And they shall make an ark of acacia-wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.

Rav Baruch Sorotzkin suggests that the Aron was made up of half measurements:
2.5 amos long...
1.5 amos wide...
1.5 amos tall...
1.5 amos wide...
1.5 amos tall...
Perhaps this is because the Aron only had half of the Torah in it. The Written Half.
However, it could not or did not contain the other half. The Oral half.

It takes 2 halves to make 1 whole.
One should not say to themselves, I will not fulfill the mitzvas of the Rabbis, since they are not Biblically mandated. Said Hashem to them, my children, you may not say this, rather you should listen to what they tell you, as it says, “and you shall do according to that which they teach you.”
Why is this so? Because, I, G-d, agree to their words. The proof is that Jacob, at the time that he blessed Menashe and Ephraim, put the younger before the elder and Hashem agreed to Jacob’s enactment. This is borne out when the leaders brought their gifts to donate in the building of the Mishkan, wherein, it says that Ephraim, the younger son, brought his gifts before Menashe the elder of the 2 tribes. .
