36. the kohen shall order that they clear out the house, before the kohen comes to look at the lesion, so that everything in the house should not become unclean.
After this, the kohen shall come to look at the house.
Sforno adds:
ופנו את הבית בטרם יבא. ולא יבא קודם לכן ובין כך יהיה זמן תשובה ותפלה לבעלים וזמן תפלה לכהן, ועם זה נתן זמן הסגר.
The person with the afflicted home should not approach the Kohen until he has cleaned out his home. The interim time is meant to be used for both Teshuvah and Tefila, on both the person's part as well as the Kohen's part. Why is the Koshen praying?
